"Another Flash?" Google Unveils Gemini Flash 3.7 After Just 3 Weeks… No News on Pro Model
Successive Generational Upgrades for Lightweight Models
Targeting the Enterprise Market with Low-Cost, High-Speed Solutions
Google has unveiled a new version of its lightweight artificial intelligence (AI) model, Gemini Flash. This launch comes just three weeks after the previous release of Gemini 3.6 Flash last month. Over the past three months, Google has continuously updated the Flash model, signaling a strategy of prioritizing cost-effective models over its top-tier "Pro" offerings.
On August 13 (local time), Google announced the launch of Gemini 3.7 Flash for enterprise customers and paid individual users. Google introduced it as an "intelligent workhorse model for coding and agents." The model is focused on software development, AI agents, and work automation.
The industry is paying close attention to the increasingly rapid release cycle of the Flash model. The latest model was unveiled just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash was introduced last month. The Gemini Flash model has been updated twice in the past three months, accelerating its time to market. Following the debut of Gemini 3.5 Flash at Google's annual developer conference in May, the company released Gemini 3.6 Flash last month.
This new version enhances coding and work automation performance. Google explained that the improvements in coding and bug-fixing capabilities enable the model to generate high-quality code in a single attempt. The coding and performance metrics of Gemini 3.7 Flash are said to be similar to or surpass those of mid-tier models like Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 5 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Terra.
Notably, the model features exceptionally fast response speeds. AI model analytics firm Artificial Analysis stated that Gemini 3.7 Flash delivers answers at 340 tokens per second, making it the second-fastest after Gemini 3.5 Flash Lite.
Pricing is set at $0.75 per 1 million input tokens and $3.75 per 1 million output tokens until the end of this year, which is about half the price of the 3.6 Flash. Industry observers believe Google is positioning Gemini 3.7 Flash as a low-cost model aimed at enterprises that use software tools and need to automate multi-step work processes via AI systems.
Meanwhile, in contrast to the Flash model, the release of Google’s top-tier model has been delayed. The most recent Pro series model, Gemini 3.1 Pro, was made public on February 19, 2026. In May, Google announced that version 3.5 Pro was already in internal use and was scheduled for a June release. However, the release has reportedly been postponed, as Google is facing difficulties meeting the internal performance targets for the 3.5 Pro.

Some in the industry interpret this as Google placing greater emphasis on expanding the versatility of the Flash model by highlighting cost and speed, rather than focusing solely on high-end model performance. In fact, Google is emphasizing efficiency, latency, and stability—core requirements for operating AI agents at scale—as key objectives for the Flash model.
