PKMR Batch-II New High-Speed Patrol Boat No. 1 Deployed for Active Duty
Mission Deployed to NLL Waters
Three Additional Vessels to Be Delivered to Navy Within This Year
A new high-speed patrol boat (Patrol Killer Medium Rocket, PKMR Batch-II) No. 1, which will be deployed in the Northern Limit Line (NLL) waters to carry out territorial defense missions, is being delivered to the Navy.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration announced on August 14 that a delivery ceremony for the new high-speed patrol boat No. 1 will be held at HJ Shipbuilding & Construction’s Yeongdo Shipyard in Busan.
The administration has been promoting a next-generation patrol boat project to replace the aging Chamsuri-class vessels. Following the implementation of the PKMR Batch-I project from 2017 to 2022, they began the Batch-II project in 2022, which features enhanced combat systems, user operability, and electronic warfare response capabilities. After its launch and sea trials last year, the Batch-II No. 1 vessel will be delivered to the Navy on this day and is expected to undergo further force integration. Three additional Batch-II vessels are also scheduled to be delivered sequentially to the Navy within this year. The engine for the new patrol boat is supplied by GE Aerospace.
