HLB Pharmaceutical Achieves Record First-Half Revenue of 127.9 Billion Won
HLB Pharmaceutical achieved its highest-ever half-year results in the first half of this year.
According to HLB Pharmaceutical on August 14, consolidated sales for the first half of the year reached approximately 127.9 billion won, up 56.8% year-on-year, while operating profit surged by 414.0% to about 1 billion won.
On a separate basis, sales recorded approximately 84.2 billion won, a 21.0% increase compared to the same period last year. Sales of prescription drugs (ETC) grew by 11.9% year-on-year, backed by double-digit growth of major products such as Rosuduo, Tinza, and Citrosine. Out-of-hospital prescription performance increased by 14.6% compared to the same period last year, and the prescription ranking rose from 48th to 42nd.
The growth momentum in the consumer healthcare business was also remarkable. Sales for the first half stood at around 12.0 billion won, a sharp 152.0% increase year-on-year, with balanced growth across all distribution channels, including online, home shopping, and offline channels.
Subsidiaries also contributed to the overall growth. Shinhwa Advance, which has been consolidated into results since May last year, recorded sales of approximately 44.1 billion won in the first half of this year, up 22.1% year-on-year.
Building on this momentum, HLB Pharmaceutical plans to accelerate the expansion of its business portfolio, research and development, and production in-house. The company intends to diversify its revenue structure by expanding its business areas from its existing pharmaceutical business into consumer healthcare and medical devices.
The company is also accelerating efforts to secure future growth engines. In the first half of the year, the company invested 3.57 billion won in research and development, a 35.3% increase from the same period last year. HLB Pharmaceutical is focusing its R&D capabilities on the development of long-acting injectable drugs, as well as improving existing drugs and securing new pipelines.
The company is also moving to strengthen its manufacturing base. HLB Pharmaceutical is pushing ahead with the construction of a new plant in Hyangnam to expand production capacity and enhance profitability. Through this new plant, the company plans to shift contract manufacturing products to in-house production, thereby increasing efficiency and profitability, while also establishing the facility as a production and supply base for new drug pipelines currently being developed by the HLB Group over the long term.
