Grand Korea Leisure Wins Seoul Mayor's Award at Korea ESG Awards
Awarded in the Environment Sector
Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), which operates the foreigner-only casino Seven Luck, announced on the 13th that it had received the "Seoul Mayor's Award in the Environment Sector" at the 21st "2026 Korea ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) Awards" ceremony.
The Korea ESG Awards is an event hosted by the Korea Service Industry Promotion Agency and sponsored by the National Assembly, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The event comprehensively evaluates activities related to the environment, society, and transparent management, selecting companies, institutions, and organizations that play a leading role in practicing ESG management.
GKL was recognized for its eco-friendly initiatives, including recycling waste plastic and bottle caps that are continuously generated at casino business sites—which are multi-use facilities—upcycling of discarded umbrellas, a sharing wardrobe campaign, beach and riverside cleanup and plogging (trash-picking while jogging) activities conducted by the GKL Dream Hope Volunteer Group composed of GKL employees, urban gardening activities, and donation of oak trees. The company was acknowledged for its efforts in ▲ fostering a resource-circulating green economy ▲ preserving local ecological environments ▲ cleaning urban tourist sites ▲ and conserving biodiversity.
Through such activities, GKL reduced a total of 59,812 kg of carbon emissions, thereby contributing to the realization of carbon neutrality. The company explained that this is equivalent in effect to planting approximately 6,955 thirty-year-old pine trees (grown in Gangwon and central regions).
