Daedong and Rainbow Robotics to Jointly Develop Agricultural Robot 'AGROID'
Combining Rainbow Humanoid Technology with Daedong’s Agricultural Data
Advancing the Commercialization of Agricultural Robots
Daedong announced on August 13 that it will pursue joint development with Rainbow Robotics to commercialize the agricultural humanoid robot "AGROID."
Daedong Group began developing plans for agricultural robots needed for AI greenhouses earlier this year. By integrating Rainbow Robotics' humanoid upper platform with Daedong's lower drive system, the two companies recently completed the first prototype. Currently, AGROID is undergoing real-world testing for tasks such as tomato harvesting.

View original imageThe development responsibilities are divided based on each company's strengths. Daedong is overseeing the overall development, while Daedong Robotics and Daedong AgTech are developing the autonomous lower platform, work path generation, and agricultural AI systems for crop recognition and harvest decision-making. Rainbow Robotics is in charge of the robotic harvesting arm, precision control systems, AI control, and digital twin integration technologies. Both companies will jointly pursue certification and on-site demonstrations.
Daedong Group and Rainbow Robotics plan to combine their expertise in agricultural operations and robotics technology to proactively respond to the rapidly growing market. Daedong intends to use this collaboration as a starting point for building the agricultural robotics ecosystem and is advancing commercialization by integrating Rainbow Robotics' robotics technology with agricultural field and farming data.
Daedong aims to deploy AGROID as a core robot for the "4th-generation AI greenhouse," which will be established as part of the National Agricultural AX Platform Project in Jeollanam-do by 2028. Their plan is to create an environment where AI and robotics enable full automation of cultivation, harvesting, and distribution; to accumulate agricultural work data; and, after verifying performance and cost-effectiveness, to proceed to commercialization.
