Experience Programs to Include Researcher Lectures and Youth Mentoring
A program will be launched to showcase the research and development (R&D) achievements of government-funded research institutes at national science museums across the country, where researchers will directly present and explain their results to the public.
On August 13, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the six major national science museums and the National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) signed a "Financial business agreement for Promoting and Disseminating R&D Achievements of Government-funded Research Institutes in the Field of Science and Technology" at the National Gwacheon Science Museum.
The participating institutions are the National Science Museum, National Gwacheon Science Museum, National Daegu Science Museum, National Gwangju Science Museum, National Busan Science Museum, and National Gangwon Science Museum.
According to the agreement, the science museums and NST will create exhibition spaces utilizing R&D results from government-funded institutes and jointly develop science culture experience programs. Moving beyond simple displays of achievements, they also plan to run programs that directly connect the research field with the public, including lectures by researchers and youth career mentoring.
After a pilot operation at one science museum in the second half of this year, the scope of cooperation will be gradually expanded to encompass all six major national science museums.
