"Which Hospitals Are Open on National Liberation Day?"... 120 Dasan Call Center Foundation Takes Proactive Holiday Measures
Significant Surge in Emergency and Medical Inquiries on Last Year’s National Liberation Day
Consultation Database and Response Systems Upgraded; Priority Focus Areas Selected
"Today is a substitute holiday—can you tell me which hospitals or pharmacies are open?"
"Please let me know the operating hours for the Hangang water park and the time of the last bus to the event venue."
The 120 Dasan Call Center Foundation announced on August 13 that it has pre-selected the types of inquiries most likely to be repeated during this year’s holiday period and reviewed its relevant consultation database as well as response systems in advance.
The 120 Dasan Call Center Foundation has established itself as the primary daily life platform for Seoul citizens, providing consultation services across a wide range of areas—including transportation, welfare, administration, and daily life information—24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
From August 15 to 17, 2025, during last year’s National Liberation Day holiday, a total of 32,209 inquiries were received through all of the foundation’s consultation channels (including phone, text, chat, and chatbot).
In particular, during the National Liberation Day holiday last year, there were 187 emergency and medical information consultations. On National Liberation Day itself, there were 101 such inquiries, a 3.4-fold increase from 30 cases on August 14. The main topics included on-duty pharmacies, hospitals open on holidays, emergency medical centers, and hospitals in Seoul.
At that time, a resident of Seongbuk-gu, identified as Mr. A, requested assistance from the 120 Dasan Call Center when his child suddenly developed a high fever. The call center agent provided contact information for the nearest emergency medical institution and explained how to seek assistance via 119 in case of an emergency situation.
A resident of Songpa-gu, identified as Ms. B, contacted the 120 Dasan Call Center before visiting Jamsil Hangang Swimming Pool to confirm its operating hours and the list of items not permitted on premises. The consultant provided detailed information about operating hours, user regulations, permitted and restricted items, so that Ms. B could visit the facility without inconvenience.
During last year’s National Liberation Day holiday, there was a noticeable demand for urgent, real-time information on emergency and medical services, public transportation, and events at Hangang Parks. The foundation has selected these areas as the “three major priority consultation fields for the National Liberation Day holiday” and plans to respond proactively during this year’s holiday period from August 15 to 17.
Based on last year’s inquiry history, the foundation has categorized frequently asked questions likely to be repeated this year. Among its 9,810 standard consultation databases, it has reviewed and updated information related to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies open during holidays, bus and subway schedules, as well as event and facility operating information at Hangang Parks.
The foundation will prepare special consultation materials for the holiday period to ensure that relevant content is shared promptly at consultation sites. The aim is for citizens to obtain necessary information with a single 120 inquiry, without having to check each institution’s website and phone number individually. The foundation continues to operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to prevent any gaps in consultation services.
