Mirae Asset Venture Investment Expected to Form 929 Billion Won Funds This Year Backed by Major Policy Institutions
Mirae Asset Venture Investment (100790) is projected to see its new fund formation surpass 900 billion won this year, as it continues to secure investments from major policy institutions such as Korea Venture Investment Corp. and Korea Growth Investment Corp. With its assets under management expanding rapidly, the company is expected to maintain growth in earnings, driven by increases in both management and performance fees from fund operations.
Mirae Asset Venture Investment announced on the 13th that it has formed new funds totaling 469 billion won by August 2026. This was accomplished through the establishment of seven funds capitalized by major policy institutions including Korea Growth Investment Corp., Korea Venture Investment Corp., and Korea Asset Management Corp.
Notably, the company formed a 107 billion won fund through a project fund, recognized as the first case of direct private sector matching investment for the National Growth Fund. This fund is intended for investment in Rebellion, an AI semiconductor design company.
Additional large-scale fund formations are scheduled for the second half of the year. Mirae Asset Venture Investment plans to create an additional fund worth 300 billion won through the National Growth Fund and is also set to establish a 160 billion won fund via the National Pension Service’s entrusted management allocation.
If all planned funds are established, the total volume of new fund formation for the year will reach 929 billion won. As a result, the company expects its total assets under management to exceed 2.4 trillion won by the end of the year.
This marks the largest amount of new funds formed in a single year by Mirae Asset Venture Investment. Compared to the end of last year, the assets under management will have increased by about 60% within just one year.
It is also noteworthy that the company has consecutively secured investments from major policy funding institutions. Mirae Asset Venture Investment has been selected for investment programs by all leading agencies, including the National Growth Fund operated by Korea Development Bank, the National Pension Service, Korea Venture Investment Corp., and Korea Growth Investment Corp.
Industry observers attribute the company’s repeated selection to its robust fundraising capabilities as an affiliate of a major financial group, its systematic post-investment management platform, and its expertise in selecting investment targets.
In particular, Mirae Asset Venture Investment adopts a strategy of proactively investing in industries and companies with high growth potential, based on analysis of industry trends, and delivering capital recovery outcomes as a result of these investments.
The company is also expanding its investment portfolio in AI and deep tech. In Korea, it has invested in various startups including the AI semiconductor firm Rebellion, Moloco, Upstage, Scatter Lab, Exina, HyperAccel, and Real World.
Its overseas investment portfolio includes enterprise AI model provider Cohere, Chinese AI company Moonshot AI, AI-powered workspace company GenSpark, and Chinese humanoid robotics company Agile Bot.
The company anticipates not only capital gains from the increased value of its portfolio companies but also a stable expansion of revenue sources through growing assets under management. As fund sizes increase, both management fees from operations and performance fees from investment results are expected to rise in tandem.
Mirae Asset Venture Investment showed strong results in the first half of this year. According to the company’s semiannual report released on August 12, consolidated operating revenue reached 139.8 billion won, with operating profit of 37.4 billion won for the first half.
The first-half operating profit alone surpassed last year’s annual operating profit of 35.1 billion won. This improvement was driven by an increase in the value of portfolio companies and the company’s high general partner (GP) ownership ratio, which led to higher fund dividend income.
With large-scale new funds slated for formation this year, the resulting rise in management and performance fees from expanded assets under management is expected to continue to have a positive effect on future earnings.
Based on its successive attraction of major policy institution investments, Mirae Asset Venture Investment aims to achieve a historic milestone by establishing new funds worth 929 billion won and managing 2.4 trillion won in assets this year, thereby strengthening both its financial performance and investment competitiveness.
