Investor Deposit Balance Falls Below 100 Trillion Won Amid Market Correction...Lowest in Six Months
As the domestic stock market undergoes an adjustment, the investor deposit balance—commonly referred to as market sidelined funds—has fallen to its lowest level in six months.
According to the Korea Financial Investment Association on August 12, the investor deposit balance as of the previous day was approximately 97.9289 trillion won. This represents a decrease of about 2.789 trillion won compared to the previous day's figure of 100.718 trillion won.
An investor deposit refers to the idle cash held in a customer's securities account, which has not been used to purchase stocks.
Compared to the all-time high of 139.6947 trillion won on June 4, the balance has dropped by approximately 29.9%.

This is the first time since February 13 that the investor deposit balance has fallen below 100 trillion won. At that time, the KOSPI stood at 5,507.01; after that, it reached a record high of 9,000 in a short period before entering a correction phase.
