Genematrix Achieves Turnaround With 393 Million Won in Q2 Operating Profit
GENEMATRIX turned to profit in both operating income and net income in the second quarter of this year.
According to GENEMATRIX on August 12, the company recorded sales of 2.91 billion won in the second quarter of this year, up 15.6% from the previous quarter and 8.1% year-on-year. During the same period, operating income was 393 million won and net income was 689 million won, marking a turnaround to profitability for both.
The driving force behind this performance was the expansion of exports of Genematrix's multiplex molecular diagnostic NeoPlex™ product line. In the second quarter of this year, export sales reached 1.22 billion won, a 96% increase compared to the same period last year.
GENEMATRIX continues to expand its business areas by steadily broadening its portfolio of multiplex molecular diagnostic products based on its proprietary multiplex PCR technology, including diagnostic products for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and human papillomavirus (HPV), a respiratory product group (RI), multiplex diagnostic products for tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria infection (TB·NTM), and gastrointestinal (GI) diagnostic products. More than 40% of total sales are generated through exports of the NeoPlex product line, and the company is sustaining sales growth by diversifying export markets.
Overseas sales of the entire NeoPlex diagnostic product line saw significant year-on-year growth in the infectious disease sector, which is highly valued in the global market. Sales of HPV diagnostic products increased 266% compared to the same period last year, while sales of STI diagnostic products grew by 113%. Sales of the respiratory illness (RI) diagnostic product group also rose by 28% year-on-year, driving overall performance improvement.
A GENEMATRIX representative stated, "NeoPlex products have established a differentiated competitive edge with their accuracy and outstanding multiplex diagnostics performance, enabling us to successfully enter overseas markets," and added, "We expect this trend of returning to profitability to continue."
