GIS Expands Production Lines Amid Surge in MLCC Orders
GIS is embarking on expanding the production capacity at its Gumi plant.
According to GIS on August 12, as its main production lines, including the existing Anyang plant, have reached full capacity, the company plans to add a multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) equipment production line to the Gumi plant.
As of May, GIS announced that orders for AI-oriented MLCC core equipment had increased more than threefold year-on-year, and the company’s total outstanding order backlog had surged by approximately 180%. With the ongoing boom in MLCC demand in downstream industries, the operation rate at the Anyang headquarters plant reached its limit, making the need for an urgent capacity expansion to smoothly accommodate increased volumes a critical task.
With the addition of the Gumi plant, GIS is expected to effectively boost its MLCC equipment production capacity while minimizing the burden of large-scale new facility investments. The Gumi plant not only reduces logistics costs because of its short transportation distance to the production hubs of major client companies, but also offers a significant competitive edge in terms of faster delivery, installation, and maintenance support.
GIS is also simultaneously pursuing the establishment of a local branch in the Philippines to bolster its ability to respond to global clients’ overseas production bases.

A representative from GIS stated, “With the growth of the global AI market, orders for MLCC equipment are continuing, and the utilization of our existing Anyang production infrastructure has reached its limits. Centering production capacity around both the Anyang and Gumi bases, we aim to accelerate the conversion of our order backlog into sales and achieve both growth in scale and profitability.”
