National Police Agency Promotes Four to Commissioner General After 11 Months
Nine Officers, Including Song Byungseon from Gyeonggi Nambu, Selected for Senior Superintendent General
The police have carried out promotions for senior positions, including Chief Superintendent General, the second-highest rank in the organization, for the first time in 11 months.
The National Police Agency announced on the 12th that four officers have been appointed as Chief Superintendent General and nine as Senior Superintendent General.
The rank of Chief Superintendent General is directly below the Commissioner General and is limited to only seven positions: Head of the National Investigation Headquarters, Deputy Commissioner General, President of the Korean National Police University, and the Commissioners of the Seoul, Busan, Gyeonggi Nambu, and Incheon Metropolitan Police Agencies.

The newly promoted Chief Superintendent Generals are: Yoo Seung-ryul, Director of Investigation Planning and Coordination at the National Police Agency; Ko Bum-seok, Commissioner of Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency; Kim Jong-chul, Commissioner of Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency; and Ko Pyung-gi, Commissioner of Jeju Provincial Police Agency. Those appointed as Senior Superintendent Generals are: Park Heon-soo, at the National Police Agency's Government Joint Investigation Headquarters for Narcotics Crimes; Lee Seo-young, Acting Director of the Life Safety and Traffic Bureau at the National Police Agency; Park Jun-sung, Acting Director of the International Police Cooperation Bureau at the National Police Agency; Song Yoo-chul, Head of the General Affairs Division at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Kim Sung-jae, Head of the Intelligence Division at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Oh Seung-jin, Head of Investigation Division at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Yang Young-woo, Commander of the 101 Security Unit at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Kim Kwang-sik, Commissioner of the Seoul Gwanak Police Station; and Song Byung-sun, Head of the Metropolitan Investigation Unit at the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency.
