Pakistan Defense Minister: "US and Iran Close to Some Sort of Arrangement"
Qatar Also Expresses Optimism About Negotiations
Pakistan, which has been mediating ceasefire negotiations between the United States and Iran, has indicated that the two sides are close to reaching an agreement.
On August 11 (local time), Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Minister of Defense, stated in an interview with Bloomberg that the United States and Iran are “close to some sort of an arrangement.”
Minister Asif said, “The situation is again moving in a direction favorable to a peace agreement or arrangement,” adding, “Signals that have emerged over the past two or three days indicate that both sides are on the verge of reaching an agreement in some form.”
Pakistan's mediation efforts are also continuing. According to Iran’s state-run SNN news agency, Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Minister of Interior, is scheduled to visit Tehran on this day to meet with Iranian officials.
Qatar, another mediating country, also assessed that there are signs of progress in the ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding the resumption of passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Majed Mohammed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed optimism during a briefing by stating, “In the past few days, we’ve heard positive statements from both countries,” and conveyed expectations regarding the outcome of the talks.

Iran and Oman are continuing negotiations on the resumption of passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
