Lim Jiyu has claimed her first-ever victory on the Dream Tour (second division).
On August 11, at Ocean Beach Golf & Resort (par 72) in Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province, she shot a 6-under-par 66 in the final second round of the KLPGA 2026 Eastone·Ocean Beach Dream Tour 14th round (total prize money: 70 million won), securing the win with a total of 15-under-par 129.
Lim Jiyu held up the trophy with a 6-stroke lead over runners-up Choi Hyewon and Hong Sumin (9-under-par 135), earning prize money of 10.5 million won. This marks the first time in 14 years that a player has won by a 6-stroke margin in a Dream Tour 36-hole tournament, following Choi Minkyeong’s victory in the 14th round of the 2012 Dream Tour. The biggest margin of victory in a 36-hole Dream Tour event remains Kim Jin-hyeon’s 10-stroke win in the 2nd round of the 2004 Dream Tour.

View original imageLim Jiyu was a standout athlete, competing as a national team member from 2022 to 2023 and winning a silver medal in the women’s team golf event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. After making her regular tour debut in 2024 but failing to achieve notable results, she transitioned to the Dream Tour.
In an interview right after her victory, Lim Jiyu said, “This first win feels even more valuable and joyful because it came after a tough period following my debut on the regular tour. It feels like a reward for all the sweat and effort I have put in.” She continued, “I experienced major failures and a prolonged slump, but after meeting my new coach, Kangil Kim, this May, my perspective started to open up. In the past, I was obsessed with technical aspects, but now I have simplified my swing,” she added, explaining her reason for victory.
