Cosmax Approaches 800 Billion Won in Q2 Sales with Record Results... U.S. Subsidiary Turns Profitable for First Time
Sales Up 27%, Operating Profit Up 21%
Domestic Subsidiary Achieves Over 500 Billion Won in Quarterly Sales for the First Time
Overseas Subsidiaries See Improved Performance
Cosmax achieved all-time highs in both sales and operating profit for the second quarter of this year. While its domestic operations continued their growth, overseas subsidiaries in China, the United States, and Southeast Asia also saw an increase in sales. The U.S. subsidiary posted a quarterly operating profit in the black for the first time.
According to Cosmax's earnings report on August 11, 2026, its consolidated sales for the second quarter reached 794.9 billion won, up 27% year-on-year. Operating profit rose by 21% to 73.7 billion won. The operating profit margin stood at 9.3%.
The company recorded cumulative sales of 1.4769 trillion won and operating profit of 126.8 billion won for the first half of the year, increasing by 22% and 13%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
Sales from the domestic subsidiary reached 518.4 billion won, up 23% year-on-year. This marks the first time quarterly domestic sales surpassed 500 billion won. Operating profit rose 13% to 56.4 billion won.
In the domestic business, growth in orders was driven by an increase in overseas sales from indie brand clients. Sales were boosted mainly by basic skincare products, while profitability improvements in sun care and gel masks also contributed to increased operating profit. Export sales rose as direct transactions with global and European clients expanded.
The Chinese subsidiary posted 197.4 billion won in sales, a 33% increase. At the Shanghai subsidiary, greater orders from color cosmetics clients lifted sales of base makeup such as cushions and foundations, as well as blush and lip product lines. The Guangzhou subsidiary saw sales growth in both online and export channels.
The U.S. subsidiary reported 53.8 billion won in sales, a 79% year-on-year growth. Operating profit turned positive on a quarterly basis for the first time. Cosmax has been reducing fixed costs at its U.S. subsidiary and working to secure clients in the West Coast region. Sales from West Coast indie brands increased, and continuing reorders from existing large customers led to higher sales and improved profitability.
In Southeast Asia, the Indonesian subsidiary posted 28.9 billion won in sales, a 38% increase. Sales rebounded among existing distribution channel clients such as convenience stores and supermarkets, and orders from new clients including small miscellaneous goods shops also grew. Exports to neighboring countries like Malaysia, Singapore, and India also increased.
The Thai subsidiary recorded 24.9 billion won in sales, up 8%. This was mainly due to increased reorders of existing products from major clients. Expanded production by large clients and new brand manufacturing through the OBM business also contributed to higher sales.
