Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation Connects the National Debt Redemption Movement with AI... World Heritage Historical Tour
AI Special Exhibition at Daegaya Cultural Nuri from August 18 to September 16
Linking the UNESCO Documentary Heritage of the National Debt Redemption Movement with the World Heritage Jisan-dong Tumuli
The Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation is introducing new cultural tourism content that connects UNESCO Documentary Heritage and World Heritage sites into a singular historical journey.
The Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation, together with the National Debt Redemption Movement Memorial Association, will hold the "National Debt Redemption Movement Daegu·Goryeong Traveling Exhibition Connected by AI" at the Daegaya Cultural Nuri Exhibition Hall from August 18 to September 16.
This exhibition has been prepared as part of the "2026 K-Museum Regional Traveling Exhibition and Tour Support Project" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Museum Association.
It reinterprets the National Debt Redemption Movement, which began in Daegu in 1907, through generative AI and digital technology, allowing visitors to experience history in an accessible and engaging way.
Goryeong, in particular, is a region where local figures, including Lee Doo-hoon and others centered around Hongwa Gotak, actively participated in the National Debt Redemption Movement.
More than 50 historical records documenting the unfolding of the movement have been preserved here, further underscoring Goryeong’s importance as a key hub of the movement.
Alongside the exhibition, a "Historical Heritage Tour Connecting World Heritage Sites" will also be offered.
The tour will be held four times—on August 28 and 29, and on September 4 and 5. Participants will start by viewing the AI special exhibition and continue to the Daegaya Museum; the Jisan-dong Tumuli, a UNESCO World Heritage site; Goryeong Hyanggyo; Gayatko Village; the Seongsan Yi Family Ancestral Hall; and the Yeomnong Sanjeong Gongdeokbi Monument, among other destinations.
This tour is notable for linking the UNESCO Documentary Heritage records of the National Debt Redemption Movement with the World Heritage Jisan-dong Tumuli, providing an opportunity to experience Goryeong’s history, culture, and spirit of community all in one place.
A representative from the Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation stated, "We will use AI technology to shed new light on the historical value of the National Debt Redemption Movement and offer a special experience that connects these two UNESCO heritage sites," adding, "We will continue to develop content that combines digital technology with local historical and cultural resources."
