Policy-Based Funding Provided After Screening Through Nationwide Branches
On August 11, KB Kookmin Bank announced that it has been selected as the handling bank for the "2026 Emergency Medical Institution Loan Program," which is supervised by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. As part of this project, KB Kookmin Bank will provide a total of 100 billion won in policy-based finance to emergency medical institutions outside the Seoul metropolitan area.
This program was established to ease the management burden of medical institutions in non-metropolitan and emergency medical underserved areas, and to maintain the regional emergency medical infrastructure in a stable manner. The financial support can be used for purposes such as improving emergency room facilities, paying medical staff salaries, or refinancing bank loans in order to stabilize hospital management.
The eligible institutions are regional emergency medical centers, regional emergency medical institutions, and other designated facilities located outside the Seoul metropolitan area, as selected by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. KB Kookmin Bank will review applications via its nationwide branches and then provide the policy-based funds.
The loan limits are set at a maximum of 4 billion won per regional emergency medical center, 2 billion won per regional emergency medical center, and 1 billion won per regional emergency medical institution. The interest rate is a fixed 2% per year, but a reduced fixed rate of 1% per year will apply to institutions in medically underserved areas. The repayment terms include a five-year grace period followed by ten years of equal installments.
