On August 11, the Financial Security Institute announced that it will conduct the second round of the “AI Security Expert Training Program” for employees of financial investment companies, credit finance companies, federations, and related financial institutions. This program, which will be held from this month through November, is structured in three stages: foundational education, advanced training, and project implementation. AI and information security professionals from the Financial Security Institute will provide support throughout the entire process, including education, hands-on training, and project execution.

Participants will first build foundational knowledge of AI, then study AI security technologies specifically tailored to the financial sector in depth. The program will also include “AI Red Teaming” training and the “AI Red Team Challenge,” which analyzes vulnerabilities of generative AI models and verifies response capabilities. The AI Red Team Challenge is a competition where participants deliberately attempt prompt-based attacks to find weaknesses in AI models and assess their robustness.

In the final stage of the course, participants will directly build pilot AI security services customized for the unique characteristics of each financial industry sector based on the skills they have acquired. Through this, the program aims to enhance the ability to apply security work automation technologies such as malware and vulnerability analysis using AI directly in actual financial field operations.

Previously, from April through July of this year, the Financial Security Institute held the first round of the program for employees in the banking and insurance sectors, producing a total of 22 AI security specialists. After the second course concludes, the Institute plans to select three outstanding projects each from the first and second rounds through internal and external expert review. Projects applicable to the financial industry will be further developed for use in real work environments, with support for disseminating results by submitting papers to international academic conferences and overseas workshops.

Park Sangwon, President of the Financial Security Institute, stated, “The adoption of AI in the financial sector is expanding rapidly, but there is still a shortage of specialists who understand both AI technology and security and can apply them in practice. Starting next year, we will significantly expand specialized AI security training and seminars to strengthen the talent base in the financial sector, and support financial firms in proactively responding to emerging security threats during their transition to artificial intelligence (AX).”
