First Female Violent Crimes Chief Park Miok Joins "Brave Detectives 5"
tcast E Channel’s crime variety show “Brave Detectives 5” will resume broadcasting with the addition of a forensic examiner and a former detective, as well as a revamped program structure.
On August 11, E Channel announced that “Brave Detectives 5” will return to air on August 21 at 9:50 p.m. In this renewal, a forensic examiner will appear in each episode to explain the cause of death and criminal methods from a forensic perspective. Existing experts, including profiler Kwon Ilyong, will continue to analyze the criminal’s behavior, the sequence of crimes, and clues identified during the investigation.
The reenactments and investigation processes are also being refined. The show will now present the crime scenes and the process by which detectives narrow down the clues in greater detail, all based on actual investigative records. The cast’s initial reactions to the cases, as they share and discuss opinions and work through deductions, will also be featured in the broadcast.
A new segment, “Unsolved Cases Q,” will be introduced as well, with former detective Park Miok appearing as a regular. Park is known as the first female chief of the violent crimes division in South Korea and has been cited as an inspiration for female detective characters in dramas such as “Hit” and “Signal.”
In “Unsolved Cases Q,” detectives and experts draw from their real-life case experiences to explore the backgrounds of crimes and the psychology of those involved. While the original show focused on the progression of an incident, the investigation, and apprehension, the new segment will address lingering questions and the social implications that remain after a case is closed.
