Prime Minister Han Seong-sook Issues Emergency Directive on Pyeongtaek Warehouse Fire: "Do Your Utmost in Search and Rescue"
Prime Minister Han Seong-sook issued an urgent directive on August 11 regarding the fire that broke out at a hazardous materials storage and processing facility located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. She ordered the National Fire Agency to mobilize all available firefighting personnel and equipment to do their utmost to contain the fire and conduct search and rescue operations.
Prime Minister Han also called on relevant authorities—including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the National Police Agency, Gyeonggi Province, and Pyeongtaek City—to thoroughly control the site and provide guidance to residents, and, if necessary, ensure the evacuation of residents so that there would be no damage to local communities as a result of this fire.
She further emphasized the need to ensure the safety of firefighters at the scene to prevent secondary accidents during their active firefighting operations.

Earlier that day, at approximately 12:03 a.m., a report was received about a fire at a special logistics center in Tojin-ri, Cheongbuk-eup, Pyeongtaek. The fire authorities issued the National Fire Mobilization Order at around 3:39 a.m. to intensify firefighting efforts, and at 5:16 a.m., lowered the emergency response from level 2 to level 1 at the fire site.
