Intangible Heritage Meets Hip: 'HIP:PAN FESTIVAL' Opens in Jeonju
Ambiguous Dance Company and Chudahye Chazis Join the Lineup
The National Intangible Heritage Center will hold the 'HIP:PAN FESTIVAL' at its Grand Theater from August 21 to 29, offering a modern interpretation of intangible heritage.
This performing arts brand is designed to let audiences experience intangible heritage alongside contemporary performing arts. It presents the excitement, energy, and artistry of intangible heritage in a modern context, providing performances that anyone can enjoy.
The opening stage will feature Ambiguous Dance Company and Chudahye Chazis. Through these two groups, each interpreting tradition in their own way, the festival delivers a multidimensional view of the present and future of intangible heritage.
Ambiguous Dance Company, known for the 'Feel the Rhythm of Korea' performance 'Tiger Is Coming' and Coldplay's 'Higher Power' music video, will present 'FEVER' for two days starting August 21. The piece reinterprets the spirit and communal energy of traditional Madangnori with contemporary dance and music.

Chudahye Chazis, who convey rituals and consolation embedded in gut and shamanic music through intense rhythms and experimental sounds, will stage 'Minorities' for two days starting August 28. Blending shamanic music with reggae, rock, jazz, and hip-hop, this work highlights major tracks from their second full-length album 'Minorities', which this year won the Korean Music Award for Album of the Year.
