The Arts Council Korea (Arts Council) announced on August 10 that it has appointed Beomsu Park, former Director of Strategic Business at the Gyeonggi Arts Center, as its 8th Secretary General. His term begins on this day and will last for three years.

View original imageThe new Secretary General, Park, was born in 1969 and graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Chung-Ang University. He previously served as Director of Strategic Business at the Gyeonggi Arts Center and as Executive Director of the Cultural Power Network. Until recently, he was also a member of the Policy Advisory Committee for Culture and the Arts at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and served as Chair of the Culture and Arts Subcommittee of the Self-Assessment Committee.
The Arts Council started an open recruitment process on June 17, conducting a document review and interviews by the Secretary General Recommendation Committee, which is composed of internal and external experts. On July 22, the committee recommended three candidates to Arts Council Chairman Lee Beomhun, who subsequently nominated Park as the new Secretary General. The appointment was finalized following a resolution by the council on July 31.
