View original imageUnison, a wind turbine specialist, will not only supply wind turbines to the Jeju Eoreumbi Wind Power Plant but also take responsibility for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the facility for the next 20 years. By expanding its business scope from turbine manufacturing to installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance, the company is strengthening its O&M competitiveness.
On August 10, Unison announced that it had signed a 20-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract with Jeju Eoreumbi Wind Power Plant.
With this contract, Unison will participate in the entire process, from supplying, installing, and commissioning the wind turbines to handling long-term O&M. The company expects that, as the manufacturer directly manages the equipment, it will be able to enhance operational stability based on its technical understanding and on-site experience with the turbines.
The Eoreumbi Wind Power Plant, located in Eoeum-ri, Aewol-eup, Jeju City, is a resident-participation type wind farm constructed using village operation funds.
Unison delivered the wind turbine equipment in February of this year, followed by installation and commissioning, and completed the pre-use inspection in July. The Eoreumbi Wind Power Plant began commercial operation on August 10, 2026.
The plant is equipped with Unison’s 4.2MW-class wind turbine U136. The U136 is a domestically designed and developed turbine, specifically engineered to meet Korea's wind conditions and a variety of climate environments.
As a manufacturer that directly develops both the structure and control systems of wind turbines, Unison explained that it can leverage its own technology during the processes of diagnosing and maintaining the equipment.
Under this O&M contract, Unison will carry out regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring stable operation of the wind turbines for the next 20 years. In particular, the contract includes a guaranteed availability rate.
Unison plans to maintain equipment performance through systematic preventive maintenance and rapid fault response, emphasizing the importance of managing the turbines’ operating rate to secure long-term stable power generation output.
The expansion of its O&M business is also becoming a new source of revenue for Unison. With the addition of the Eoreumbi Wind Power Plant, the number of wind power generation complexes under Unison’s O&M responsibility has increased to 24 across Korea. The company noted that this is the largest scale among domestic wind turbine providers.
Unison has maintained an availability rate of over 97% at its self-operated and managed onshore wind farms, continually building its O&M capabilities. The design and control technology, as well as on-site maintenance experience acquired through turbine manufacturing, are being applied to its long-term O&M business.
In particular, as wind power projects expand, the importance of O&M for maintaining stable turbine operations throughout a plant’s lifecycle is growing. If the model of manufacturers also taking on long-term maintenance gains traction, it is expected to have a positive impact on Unison’s long-term revenue base.
