Dong-gu, Jeonnam-Gwangju Launches Support for Marriage Immigrants' Nationality Acquisition Costs
300,000 Won Per Person for Marriage Immigrants Residing Over Six Months
On August 10, Dong-gu, Jeonnam-Gwangju Metropolitan Special City announced that it has launched a "Support Program for the Cost of Marriage Immigrants' Nationality Acquisition" to help marriage immigrants settle early and stably in Korean society and to enhance their sense of belonging and pride as members of the local community.
This program supports the nationality acquisition fee that marriage immigrants, who are married to Korean nationals, must pay to obtain Korean nationality, providing support of 300,000 won per person.
Eligible applicants are those who have acquired Korean nationality on or after January 1 of this year, have their resident registration in Dong-gu, and have continuously resided there for at least six months. This year, support is planned for a total of 10 individuals.
Applicants wishing to apply can visit their local community welfare center or the Gender Equality and Child Division of Dong-gu District Office and submit an application form along with supporting documents, such as a certificate of nationality acquisition, resident registration, certificate of marriage relation, and a copy of their bankbook. After eligibility screening, the 300,000 won nationality acquisition fee will be paid on the 20th of the month following the application month.
