"Happy to Help Others Together with Local Residents"
An American woman wearing a pink apron and a sanitary cap held a ladle as she served food to the elderly. Despite differences in nationality and language, their warm hearts toward neighbors were the same.
On August 7, Sophia Walker, 31, participated in volunteer work with members of the Cheongon Volunteer Group at the Chilgok Sarang House free meal center in Waegwan-eup, Chilgok County.

Walker, who works as a medical professional at Camp Carroll in Waegwan-eup, took part in the entire process of volunteering that day, from food preparation and serving meals to washing dishes for the elderly. She maintained a bright expression throughout her activities and naturally mingled with the local residents.
Having recently joined the Cheongon Volunteer Group, Walker plans to continue volunteering regularly with its members, seeking out and supporting those in need in the area.
“I'm happy to be able to help someone alongside local residents,” Walker said, adding, “I want to continue participating in volunteer work moving forward.”
Cheongon, which means “warmth of youth,” is a local volunteer organization. It was launched last December with 12 members and now has 26 active members who carry out various volunteer activities such as free meal service and environmental cleanups, focusing on areas in need of welfare support.
