August 14-23: 5-Meter Crown Sculpture on Display at East Lake Area
Songpa District in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) will introduce its first public art project themed around K-pop, to be held around the East Lake area of Seokchon Lake from August 14 to August 23. The project is organized to celebrate the 20th debut anniversary of the group BigBang, whose anniversary falls on August 19, with the entire lake area decorated in BigBang's signature yellow color.

On the East Lake’s waterfront stage, a 5-meter crown sculpture symbolizing BigBang will be installed. Four hundred yellow lights will adorn the walking path, with photo zones set up at several locations. At "The Sphere," a media art installation on West Lake, special messages for K-pop fans will be displayed. Throughout the project period, 21 of BigBang’s major hits, such as "Lies," "Haru Haru," and "BANG BANG BANG," will be played along the East Lake walkway. On August 19, the exact anniversary date, a new song will also be released.
Songpa District has continued public art projects at Seokchon Lake since "Rubber Duck" in 2014, including projects like "Super Moon" (2016), "Sweet Swan" (2017), "KAWS:HOLIDAY KOREA" (2018), "Luna Project" (2019), another "Rubber Duck" (2022), and "Lobster Wonderland" (2024), mostly focusing on sculptural installations. This is the first time a project has been combined with K-pop elements.
This project is hosted and organized by YG Entertainment and Lotte Department Store, with sponsorship from Songpa District. Lotte Department Store is responsible for safety management and on-site operations, while Songpa District will oversee site inspections during the event period.
