Aribio Expands Strategic Investment in AribioLab
Aribio is expanding its strategic investment in AribioLab.
On August 10, Aribio announced that it had participated in two rounds of paid-in capital increase for AribioLab, investing a total of 5 billion won. This is a strategic investment aimed not only at providing funding, but also at strengthening the equity relationship between the two companies and connecting Aribio’s Alzheimer's drug development capabilities with AribioLab’s vaccine and immunology technology.
According to the latest disclosure, Aribio Holdings and its related parties have increased their combined stake in AribioLab to 20.69%. Aribio Group plans to leverage this closer equity relationship to link research and development (R&D) and business development capabilities among its affiliates, thereby enhancing synergy within its dementia business.
Aribio recently completed global phase 3 trials for AR1001 in approximately 1,535 early-stage Alzheimer's patients across about 230 clinical sites in 13 countries. The company intends to utilize its accumulated central nervous system (CNS) drug development expertise and global large-scale clinical trial experience for the development of subsequent dementia pipelines and further global commercialization efforts across the group.
AribioLab has built its vaccine development capabilities based on its proprietary immune enhancement platform, Lipo-pam™. It is currently conducting phase 2 clinical trials for its shingles vaccine and plans to expand its pipeline—including the development of an Alzheimer's preventive vaccine—into new areas in the dementia segment.
While Aribio is pioneering Alzheimer’s treatment with AR1001, AribioLab is expanding its business scope to the areas of prevention and onset delay based on its vaccine and immunology technology. Aribio Holdings aims to connect the capabilities of both companies to build an integrated dementia platform at the group level, spanning therapeutics, preventive vaccines, and diagnostic technologies.
