Two Workers Collapse in Maeil Dairy Pyeongtaek Plant Tank... One Dead
An accident at the Maeil Dairy plant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province resulted in the death of one worker in his 50s and injuries to another worker in his 50s.
According to the Pyeongtaek Police Station on August 9, at approximately 2:58 p.m. that day, two workers in their 50s were found collapsed at the Maeil Dairy Pyeongtaek Plant in Jinwi-myeon, Pyeongtaek City.
An employee at the plant found the two and transported them to the hospital, but one of them, identified as Mr. A, was pronounced dead. The other worker in his 50s sustained minor injuries. No external injuries were found on either individual.
The accident occurred inside a condensed milk storage tank measuring 3.4 meters in height and 1.9 meters in diameter. Police believe the workers collapsed while cleaning the inside of the tank.
Police are investigating the work being carried out at the time, the circumstances of the accident, and whether safety regulations were followed, questioning plant personnel and others involved. The exact cause of death will be determined through an autopsy.

A police official stated, "After completing the preliminary investigation, we plan to transfer the case to the Serious Accident Investigation Team of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency’s Major Crime Investigation Division."
