Lee Jin-ho Discharged After Cerebral Hemorrhage...Set to Attend First Trial for Gambling and Drunk Driving
Collapsed from Cerebral Hemorrhage in Early April, Treated in ICU
Recovered to the Point of Light Conversation and Movement
It was belatedly revealed that comedian Lee Jin-ho (40), who had collapsed due to a cerebral hemorrhage, was discharged from the hospital at the end of May.
According to Star News on August 9, Lee Jin-ho collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage in early April and received treatment in the intensive care unit at a university hospital in Seoul, eventually regaining consciousness. He was then moved to a general ward for further treatment and rehabilitation before being discharged, and is currently continuing his treatment on an outpatient basis.
It is reported that Lee Jin-ho still experiences some symptoms of paralysis, making communication and movement difficult, but he has recovered to the point where light conversation and walking are possible. After his discharge, he has been staying at home and attending outpatient therapy sessions.
Lee Jin-ho faces charges for allegedly driving under the influence for about 100 kilometers from Incheon to Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, early in the morning of September 24 last year after drinking alcohol. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration measured by police was 0.11%, which exceeds the license revocation threshold, and a subsequent blood test requested by Lee reportedly showed a result of 0.12%.
He is also accused of engaging in illegal gambling multiple times using unlicensed online gambling websites. The police began their investigation after receiving a public complaint about Lee Jin-ho’s illegal gambling through the national reporting system, and subsequently referred the case to the prosecution.
Earlier, on May 29, the Yeoju Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office indicted Lee Jin-ho without detention. On April 1, just before his trial, Lee suddenly collapsed at home due to a cerebral hemorrhage. During a phone call at the time, singer Kangin sensed something was wrong and alerted authorities, with emergency responders quickly transporting Lee to a hospital.
Lee Jin-ho is scheduled to personally attend his first hearing on charges of illegal gambling and drunk driving on August 14. The Criminal Division 1 Single Judge of the Yeoju Branch of the Suwon District Court will preside over the first trial for his gambling and violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) charges that day.
