"Internet Errors? AI Fixes Them Automatically"... LG Uplus Verifies Home Network Recovery Technology
Collaboration with Broadcom
Utilizing the Wi-Fi 8 Platform
AI Detects and Recovers from Network Anomalies
LG Uplus has successfully verified its intelligent home network technology, in which artificial intelligence (AI) independently analyzes and manages internet quality.
On August 9, LG Uplus announced that it has demonstrated a home network automatic recovery technology utilizing the Wi-Fi 8 platform. This technology employs 'edge AI,' where the AI analyzes and optimizes the network status directly within the home router, rather than on a cloud server.

LG Uplus partnered with Broadcom to create a home network environment where edge AI operates directly on the router. Broadcom provided the Wi-Fi 8 platform equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU) that supports AI computation, and LG Uplus streamlined its existing cloud-based network quality prediction AI model to also operate efficiently on the router.
Through this demonstration, both companies confirmed that AI can analyze network quality data from the home router in real time, detect signs of failures, predict potential internet quality degradation, and optimize network settings to automatically recover from such issues.
LG Uplus further explained that this demonstration is meaningful as it expands the role of the router from merely an internet connection device to an AI-based quality management platform. Starting with this verification, LG Uplus plans to continue validating and advancing technology that enables AI to reliably manage networks in a Wi-Fi 8 environment.
Nam-Seung Shin, Senior Executive Director of Wireless Broadband Sales at Broadcom Korea, stated, "Our demonstration shows that, by running an AI model directly on Broadcom's Wi-Fi 8 platform, the router can be extended into an intelligent quality management platform," adding, "As a technology partner supporting next-generation home network innovation, Broadcom will continue to strengthen its collaboration with LG Uplus."
