881 Additional Investigation Personnel Secured by Reducing Mobile Unit Staff
In response to the amendment of the Criminal Procedure Act, the police plan to launch an Internal Affairs Investigation Unit aligned with the personnel appointments in the second half of the year, and to restructure investigative oversight by transferring the investigative inspection functions of the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters to the main Human Rights & Audit Office.

View original imageThe National Police Agency announced on the afternoon of August 7, 2026, that a task force (TF) meeting was held to discuss follow-up measures regarding the amendment of the Criminal Procedure Act, resulting in the decision to reorganize the organizational structure. In addition to adjusting functions in line with the upcoming personnel season, the police will implement a spouse and direct relatives declaration system for police officers by early next month. Further, plans include strengthening the management and oversight of cases involving requests for supplementary investigation or reinvestigation by prosecutors, as well as the establishment of a Subcommittee on Vulnerable Groups within the Police Investigation Review Committee.
