They then visited Buk-sang-myeon Saseondae, the auto campground, and Gangseondae, all designated water play management areas, to verify the deployment of safety personnel, control of access to hazardous zones, maintenance of safety facilities and information signs, and emergency equipment availability.
In addition, the team visited the Hwangsan 2-gu Senior Citizens Center, designated as a cooling center in Wicheon-myeon, to examine the operation of cooling systems and the overall environment for users, as well as the management status for ensuring safe use by heat wave-vulnerable groups. Residents were also briefed on recommended actions and health management tips during heat waves.
Geochang-gun plans to continue inspecting major facilities and maintaining on-site management to prevent accidents due to heat waves and the increase in water play visitors.
Ha Mi-young, Deputy Governor of Geochang-gun, stated, "With the prolonged heat wave, prevention activities on-site are especially important. We will strengthen inspections of heat wave mitigation facilities, water play management areas, and cooling centers to ensure the safety of our residents."
As record-breaking heat waves continue, the role of local governments in preventing water play accidents and heat-related illnesses is becoming increasingly important. Inspections of heat wave mitigation facilities, cooling centers, and water play management areas are basic administrative measures for protecting citizen safety.
