Korea University Guro Hospital Receives Highest Rating in Newsweek's "World's Greenest Hospitals 2026"
Recognized for Environmental Sustainability, Including Energy and Greenhouse Gas Management
Korea University Guro Hospital announced on August 7 that it has received the highest rating in the "World's Greenest Hospitals 2026" evaluation conducted by the U.S. news weekly Newsweek.
Newsweek’s World's Greenest Hospitals evaluation is a comprehensive program that assesses medical institutions’ environmental sustainability, including energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, waste and water management, sustainable procurement, and eco-friendly management systems. Evaluation results are represented by the number of leaf icons awarded as grades.
Korea University Guro Hospital was recognized for its achievements in establishing a hospital-wide eco-friendly management system and implementing initiatives such as energy and resource conservation, waste management, and employee-participatory ESG activities.
Since launching its ESG Implementation Committee in 2022, the hospital has promoted activities such as reducing food waste and usage of plastics and paper, saving energy, and recycling resources. The hospital also encourages a culture of eco-friendly practices within the organization by identifying ESG initiatives by department and sharing exemplary cases.
