Coast Guard Launches 'Investigation Innovation TF' in Preparation for Criminal Justice Reform
The Coast Guard Headquarters announced on August 7 that it will operate an 'Investigation Innovation Task Force (TF)' to develop measures for investigation innovation, including strengthening fairness, in connection with the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act.
The Investigation Bureau Chief of the Coast Guard will serve as the head of the Investigation Innovation TF, which will run from today until October 2, the enforcement date of the amended Criminal Procedure Act.
The Investigation Innovation TF plans to identify improvement tasks in areas such as follow-up measures for judicial reform, strengthening fairness in investigations, fundamentally preventing investigative misconduct, and enhancing investigative professionalism and capabilities. The team will actively incorporate feedback from the field and external experts to develop innovative initiatives.
Furthermore, issues that require institutional improvement will be addressed by promoting the amendment of related laws and administrative rules, while matters that can be improved operationally will be gradually reflected in policy.
