Coupang Enhances Shopping With AI: Instantly See Product Comparisons and Review Summaries
“One-Glance Product View” and Infographics Introduced
AI Summarizes Reviews and Compares Similar Products
Enhanced Convenience in Product Discovery
Coupang is strengthening the entire customer experience of shopping, from product discovery to comparison and purchase decisions, by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).
On August 7, Coupang announced that it had applied AI-based features to major categories, allowing customers to check product information more easily and intuitively. The company stated that, rather than simply providing product details, its focus is on helping customers make purchasing decisions by having AI analyze and summarize the information they need.
Its flagship feature, “One-Glance Product View,” is a service that briefly organizes and displays the product’s key characteristics. Without reading the full description, customers can quickly identify the main advantages and features, and “Product Highlights,” summarizing essential information, are provided beneath the product name.
An “AI Infographic” feature has also been introduced for home appliances. This visually presents the performance and characteristics of products with numerous comparison factors, such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. For example, for washing machines, customers can instantly see the recommended number of users or the number of items that can be washed based on capacity.
Product reviews are also summarized by AI. By analyzing feedback from multiple buyers and compiling frequently mentioned strengths and weaknesses, the AI reduces the hassle of having to read through numerous reviews individually.
An "AI Product Comparison" feature has also been implemented in the home appliances and digital categories. It automatically recommends products with similar specifications or prices to the ones being viewed, and compares differences in performance and usage, thereby supporting purchasing decisions.
