Yesterday, 49 Heat-Related Illness Cases in Seoul... Another Daily Record Set
As the extreme heat wave warning continued in Seoul, the number of heat-related illness cases reported in the city on August 5 reached a new record for the year.
According to official statistics from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) released on August 6, there were 49 cases of heat-related illness in Seoul the previous day. This is the highest daily total so far this year, surpassing the 40 cases reported on August 4. The daily record has been broken for four consecutive days: 18 cases on August 2, 25 cases on August 3, 40 cases on August 4, and now 49 cases on August 5.
The cumulative number of heat-related illness cases in Seoul, counted from May 15 of this year, stands at 300, including 2 deaths.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued an extreme heat wave warning for all of Seoul at 11 a.m. on August 4, and it has remained in effect for three consecutive days as of the article's publication date. The Seoul Metropolitan Government and local district offices are operating heat wave emergency response centers with a total of 104 teams and 556 personnel.
