Hugel Posts 254.5 Billion Won in First-Half Sales... "Balanced Growth Across All Business Segments"
"Continued Proactive Investment as U.S. Direct Sales Gain Momentum"
Hugel recorded its highest-ever performance in the first half of this year.
On August 6, Hugel announced that, on a consolidated basis, it posted sales of 254.5 billion won and operating profit of 103.7 billion won for the first half of this year. These figures represent increases of 27.2% and 8.4%, respectively, compared to the same period last year—marking the company's largest first-half results on record.
Second quarter sales reached 137.9 billion won, up 25.1% year-on-year. Operating profit for the quarter was tallied at 56.0 billion won, down 1.1%. This decline reflects investment expenditures related to building out the company’s direct sales system in the U.S., among other factors.
The company explained, "The strong performance in the first half was driven by expanded domestic and international sales of Hugel’s flagship products—botulinum toxin, filler, and skin booster—along with balanced growth across all business segments, including cosmetics."
Overseas sales of botulinum toxin, filler, and skin booster in the first half reached 162.1 billion won, accounting for approximately 64% of total sales and serving as the main driver of the company’s strong results. In North and South America—including core markets such as the United States and Brazil—sales more than doubled compared to the same period last year. In Korea, sales for the combined toxin and filler products in the first half increased by 2.5% year-on-year, reaching 53.5 billion won.
By product category, botulinum toxin led the growth. First-half sales for this segment amounted to 149.4 billion won, up 46.6% from the same period last year. The filler and skin booster segment, buoyed by growth in the European market, posted first-half sales of 66.1 billion won. Cosmetics and other business segments also recorded sales of 39.0 billion won in the first half, a 31.7% year-on-year increase.
Hugel Global CEO Carrie Strom said, "We are consistently executing on our core strategy by expanding our presence in the world’s largest market—the United States—maintaining a leading position in Korea, and proactively seizing business development opportunities in major markets."
