Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Selects Site for New Office Building... To Be Built on Phase 1 North Port Redevelopment Land in Dong-gu, Busan

New Office Construction Planned for Completion by 2030
The site proposed by the Dong-gu District Office of Busan for Phase 1 of the North Port redevelopment project has been selected as the final site for the construction of the new office building of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 6th that it had selected the site for the new office through an expert review committee.
To select the site for the new office, proposals from each of Busan's district governments were accepted over three days, from July 29 to 31. Four district governments participated: Gangseo-gu, Nam-gu, Dong-gu, and Jung-gu.
An official from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries stated, "On August 5, after a presentation by the participating district governments and a fair and objective review by a site selection committee comprised of experts from various fields, the Phase 1 North Port redevelopment site in Dong-gu, Busan, was ultimately selected." The official added, "The site received excellent evaluations across all categories, including ease of securing the site, potential for clustering with other institutions, and transportation accessibility."
With the site selection finalized, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to determine the facility size within this year and commence the full-scale process to complete the construction of the new office building by 2030.

Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Hwang Jongwoo stated, "I would like to thank the citizens of Busan and the district governments for their interest during the site selection process for the new Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries office. Now that the core hub site for the southern maritime metropolitan area, which will lead the era of the Arctic Sea Route, has been determined, we will do our utmost to ensure the new building is constructed without delay."
