On-device Model Suggests Menu Options Based on User Preferences

"Service to be Implemented Soon"

Kakao has announced an artificial intelligence (AI) agent partnership with Coupang Eats. Moving forward, users will be able to order and pay for food exclusively through conversations in KakaoTalk chat rooms.

Shin-Ah Chung, CEO of Kakao, stated during the company’s Q2 earnings conference call held on August 6, “The first vertical domain to be linked with Kakao’s agentic AI is food delivery,” adding, “We are announcing an agent-to-agent (A2A) partnership with Coupang Eats.”

CEO Chung further explained, “Once Coupang Eats is integrated as an agent for ‘Kanana in KakaoTalk,’ Kanana’s on-device AI model will identify the user’s intent to order food based on the conversation context and suggest menu items tailored to the user’s accumulated preferences. Users will then be able to seamlessly complete their order and payment directly within the chat room.”

She added, “Both companies are currently holding specific discussions across various aspects to ensure that the agent AI experience in KakaoTalk can be extended all the way to transactions,” and continued, “We plan to launch the actual service in the near future.”
