ICHI Supplying Core Materials for Record-Setting Pre-Orders of 'Galaxy Z8'... Anticipates Earnings Growth in Second Half
ICHI Co., Ltd. (368600) announced on August 5 that it is supplying electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and cushioning materials for Samsung Electronics' next-generation foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z8 series. As the Galaxy Z8 series has achieved the highest ever number of pre-orders, there is growing anticipation for increased sales of related materials.
The Galaxy Z8 series recently recorded a total of 1.44 million units sold in domestic pre-orders, marking the highest pre-order performance among all Galaxy smartphones to date. This success is attributed to Samsung's competitiveness in the premium smartphone market and growing consumer interest in the new foldable form factor.
ICHI is supplying EMI-shielding gaskets and high-performance polyurethane (PU) foam materials designed to absorb internal shocks for the Galaxy Z8 series. According to the company, these materials enhance the product’s durability and operational stability, and feature proprietary, high-precision materials optimized for the compact internal space of foldable smartphones.
The company expects that, with strong sales of the Galaxy Z8 series not only in Korea but also in overseas markets, sales of related materials will increase significantly in the second half of the year. It forecast that the positive earnings trend seen since the first quarter will continue, driven by expanding sales of its main products: electromagnetic shielding gaskets and high-performance PU foam.
An ICHI official stated, "Our core electronic materials are being used in Samsung Electronics' premium foldable smartphones, which are attracting high interest in both domestic and global markets. Thanks to better-than-expected sales, we anticipate that sales of these related materials will increase substantially in the second half of the year."
The official added, "We will continue to strengthen collaboration with global key clients and expand our business activities to secure new growth engines."
