Unison, Largest Shareholder's On-Market Stake Increase... Strengthening Responsible Management and Pursuing Further Equity Expansion
On August 5, Unison (018000) announced that Samhae E&C, an affiliate of its largest shareholder Myeongwoon Industry Development, had purchased shares of the company on the stock market.
The company explained that this share acquisition was carried out to demonstrate the controlling shareholder’s commitment to responsible management, based on confidence in Unison's mid-to-long-term growth potential. The largest shareholder has no intention of being a passive investor, and plans to continue supporting the company to strengthen business competitiveness and establish a stable foundation for future growth.
Samhae E&C is a company specializing in offshore wind power EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and is currently undertaking offshore construction for the Nakwol Offshore Wind Farm Project. Having recently completed the Nakwol project successfully, the company also ranked No.1 in the civil engineering category in the 2026 construction capacity assessment, further enhancing its business competitiveness. The company’s strategy is to expand beyond EPC operations into the broader renewable energy industry, aiming to become a comprehensive energy company.
Unison is seeking to expand its offshore wind power operations, building on its experience in onshore wind turbine manufacturing and wind farm management. The company is establishing development and production capabilities for large-scale offshore wind turbines while also boosting its operational and maintenance (O&M) capacity, thereby laying a foundation for sustainable mid-to-long-term growth.
Myeongwoon Industry Development believes that by combining Unison's technical expertise and operational experience in wind turbines with Samhae E&C’s capabilities in offshore wind power construction, overall business synergies can be increased. Moving forward, the group intends to pursue various business opportunities through continued collaboration among affiliates.
Since becoming Unison's largest shareholder this year, Myeongwoon Industry Development has continued to provide financial support—including acquiring Unison’s 17th private convertible bond and attracting strategic investment for the 18th convertible bond from partner B.Grimm. The group is also expanding business cooperation, such as promoting Unison’s wind turbine supply for the Hanbit Offshore Wind Farm project.
The company emphasized that the latest on-market purchase and the plan for additional share acquisitions were also intended to demonstrate confidence in Unison’s growth strategy to the market and shareholders.
An Unison representative stated, "This share acquisition shows that the controlling shareholder's affiliate is not merely increasing its stake, but is demonstrating its confidence in the company’s growth prospects and commitment to responsible management in the market. We will continue to steadily advance both our onshore and offshore wind power businesses, deliver tangible results, and enhance corporate value."
Starting with this recent purchase, Samhae E&C plans to consider further on-market share acquisitions of Unison, taking into account market conditions. The specific size and timing will be determined in accordance with relevant regulations.
