Doosan Fuel Cell Achieves First Overseas Export of Mass-Produced SOFC Core Components Using Domestic Technology
Contract Worth 108.7 Billion Won Announced
Sequential Deliveries Scheduled Until Second Half of Next Year
Doosan Fuel Cell will mass-produce “stacks,” the core component of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), using its own manufacturing technology and supply them in large quantities to the European market. Having succeeded last year in domesticating SOFC systems for the first time in Korea, Doosan Fuel Cell has now achieved its first export of these systems.

This is the company’s largest export order to date, equivalent to about 23.9% of last year’s consolidated sales. Reverion had previously introduced Doosan Fuel Cell’s SOFC stacks and completed its own performance verification process.
The stacks will be delivered sequentially until the second half of next year, and Reverion’s next-generation fuel cell systems equipped with Doosan Fuel Cell’s SOFC stacks will be supplied to eco-friendly power plants in Germany and across Europe.
Reverion is a specialist in reversible power generation facilities that can not only produce electricity from gas but also switch to electrolysis mode when surplus power is generated. A key feature of their technology is the ability to capture carbon dioxide, generated in the power generation process, at high purity without releasing it into the atmosphere, thereby reducing carbon emissions.
The product supplied by Doosan Fuel Cell is a medium-low temperature SOFC stack commercialized through a technology partnership with the UK’s Ceres Power. Unlike conventional SOFCs that operate at temperatures above 800 degrees Celsius, Doosan’s stacks run at a medium-low temperature of around 620 degrees, simultaneously achieving high power efficiency, durability, and operational stability. This relatively lower operating temperature allows for greater material flexibility and extended component lifespan, which are highlighted as competitive advantages for Doosan Fuel Cell.
