On August 5, Bae, Kim & Lee LLC announced that it has strengthened its corporate criminal law and investigation response capabilities by hiring attorneys Woosung Jang and Sungwon Jang, who have police backgrounds.

View original imageAttorney Woosung Jang (34th Judicial Research and Training Institute class) joined the police in 2005 and served in various key positions, including Head of the Economic Crime Investigation Team and Head of the Serious Crime and Intelligence Squad at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division at North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency, Chief of the Investigation Division at Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency, Head of Cybercrime Investigation at the National Police Agency, Chief of Seongbuk Police Station, and Head of International Investigation at the National Police Agency. He has accumulated experience in economic and serious crimes, cybercrime investigation, and international investigation. In 2020, he joined the criminal law group at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC, where he worked on corporate criminal cases and investigation response. After serving as special prosecutor in the Special Act on Insurrection case last year, he returned to Bae, Kim & Lee LLC this year.
Attorney Sungwon Jang (34th Judicial Research and Training Institute class) graduated from Seoul National University School of Law and held key positions across criminal, cyber, national security, and forensic science fields at the National Investigation Headquarters and Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. He gained hands-on and leadership experience as Chief of Paju, Yangpyeong, and Suseo Police Stations, and was also Head of the Police Investigation Structure Reform Team at the National Police Agency, responsible for revising the Criminal Procedure Act and improving investigation systems.
The two attorneys are expected to provide counsel on responses to investigative agencies, corporate criminal cases, white-collar crime, and major accident and industrial safety matters as part of the criminal law group at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. The firm explained that with their joining, Bae, Kim & Lee LLC has further strengthened its corporate investigation response system by combining practical police investigation experience with criminal law advisory capabilities.
