Otok Group Becomes Official Sponsor of Seoul World Boccia Championships... Supporting 'Boccia Grand Slam' with 17 Years of Partnership
Otok Group (067170) announced on August 5 that it will participate as an official sponsor of the "2026 Seoul World Boccia Championships," which will be held this August.
The company, which has supported the sport of boccia for 17 years since 2009, plans to continue its support for this event as well, further contributing to the development of parasports and the realization of social values.
The 2026 Seoul World Boccia Championships is organized by World Boccia and co-hosted by the Korea Boccia Federation for the Disabled and the 2026 Seoul World Boccia Championships Organizing Committee. The tournament will take place at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul Olympic Park from August 24 to September 4. The opening ceremony is scheduled for August 26 at 4:00 p.m.
This tournament is expected to be the largest boccia international event in Asia, with more than 504 athletes from 47 countries participating.
With this event, South Korea becomes the first Asian country to complete the "Grand Slam" of hosting all four major boccia international tournaments: the 1988 Seoul Paralympic Games, the 2015 World Open, the 2019 Asia-Oceania Championships, the 2025 Seoul World Boccia Cup, and now the World Championships.
Boccia is a representative Paralympic sport in which even athletes with severe disabilities can participate and is often called the "chess of parasports" due to its focus on strategy and concentration.
Since 2009, Otok Group has supported improvement of the training environment for the national boccia team and the expansion of the sport's grassroots base. The company explained that this long-term sponsorship has contributed to enhancing the competitiveness of the national team.
The Republic of Korea’s boccia national team has maintained its status as the world's strongest by winning gold medals in 10 consecutive Paralympic Games, starting with its first gold at the 1988 Seoul Paralympics and continuing through the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Kang Sunghee, Chairman of Otok Group and President of the Korea Boccia Federation for the Disabled, has led the federation since 2015, supporting the enhancement of international competitiveness and the growth of the sport. Otok Group will also participate as the main sponsor of this event, aiming to support the successful operation of the competition, as well as promoting an inclusive sports culture for people with and without disabilities.
A representative of Otok Group stated, "The fact that our national boccia team could achieve the remarkable feat of winning gold medals in 10 consecutive Paralympic Games is due to the athletes' relentless effort and passion. We hope this tournament also serves as a stage for new history, and we will continue supporting the athletes so they can showcase their best performances in a stable environment."

This sponsorship is meaningful in that it supports Korea’s historic "Grand Slam" achievement in boccia international competitions as the first in Asia, based on 17 years of continued support, and represents ongoing corporate social responsibility activities for the advancement of parasports.
