The main features and prices of the eighth-generation, full-change model of Hyundai Motor Company's flagship compact sedan, the Avante, were released on August 5, 2026.
Starting from this date, Hyundai will begin accepting contracts for The All-New Avante. For the hybrid model, sales will commence after the Environment-Friendly Vehicle Notice is finalized, at which point the price reflecting tax benefits will be released.
The Avante Grows to Midsize Sedan Dimensions
The Avante now offers a spacious cabin—on par with former midsize sedans—thanks to its enlarged dimensions: length of 4,765 mm, width of 1,855 mm, and wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Additionally, the trunk offers a class-leading maximum cargo capacity of 479 liters (VDA standard), and the opening width has been significantly expanded both vertically and horizontally to make loading and unloading more convenient.
Hyundai has reinforced the main body structure of the Avante to better distribute collision loads, raised the ratio of ultra-high strength steel to 58.7%, and pushed the average tensile strength to 718 MPa, reaching a level of premium sedans and securing best-in-class collision safety globally.
Furthermore, Hyundai optimized the front and rear suspension components to reduce road impacts and deliver agile yet solid steering performance. The expanded application of sound-absorbing and insulating materials, along with enhanced sealing structures, further improved noise isolation from the outside, thus strengthening the inherent ride comfort and quietness expected from a sedan.
The Avante will be available with two powertrains: a gasoline 2.0 and a 1.6 hybrid.
The gasoline 2.0 model boasts enhanced performance, delivering a maximum output of 149 horsepower and peak torque of 18.3 kgf·m, achieving a top combined fuel efficiency of 14.3 kilometers per liter.
The 1.6 hybrid model provides a total system output of 157 horsepower and a maximum torque of 27.0 kgf·m. By improving the drive motor output and enhancing the high gear ratio, acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h improved by approximately 6%, while passing acceleration from 80 km/h to 120 km/h improved by about 17%. Fuel economy (with 17-inch wheels) has been developed to improve by around 10% compared to the previous generation.
The Avante Hybrid comes equipped with the Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0 and a hybrid gauge-based predictive control system, which enhance driving convenience and real-world fuel efficiency. Additionally, the Stay Mode allows key functions such as air conditioning and infotainment to be used while the engine remains off for a certain period when stopped, similar to an electric vehicle.
The exterior draws upon Hyundai's design language, 'Art of Steel,' emphasizing the fender’s volume while blending precise lines and robust surfaces for a sporty image.
While maintaining the balanced proportions of a classic three-box sedan, the Avante achieves dynamic overall proportions through an extended hood and visually shorter front and rear overhangs. The front and rear door panels feature a three-dimensional design where lines and surfaces of varying angles and curves intersect, adding a futuristic touch.
The Avante is available in nine exterior colors, including six new options—Kodiak Blue Matte, Raptor Gray Matte, Graphene Green Pearl, Quantum Silver Pearl, Volcanic Red Pearl, and Goyyo Copper Pearl—as well as four interior color options, including three new selections: Black/Cognac, Burgundy/Ivory Rose, and Chalk Beige monotone.
Pleos Connect Installed... Extensive Standard Safety and Convenience Features
Hyundai offers the Avante in three trim levels: Modern, Premium, and Inspiration. From the Modern trim onward, Pleos Connect and a broad range of customer-preferred safety and convenience features are standard, allowing even entry-trim buyers to enjoy a more advanced digital experience and enhanced safety and convenience.
Pleos Connect, based on either a 14.6-inch or a 12.9-inch display with a 16:9 ratio, as well as an app marketplace, are standard across all trims. Customers can freely download navigation, music streaming, gaming apps, and more to broaden their in-car experience.
A 9.9-inch slim display is installed at a naturally visible location for the driver, enabling easy access to key vehicle information such as speed, gear position, and route.
The Avante Modern trim comes standard with ten airbags—including first-row center-side and driver’s knee airbags—along with pedal misapplication safety assist and a vibration-warning steering wheel. Popular smart safety technologies are also standard, such as smart cruise control (with stop-and-go functionality), Lane Keeping Assist 2, steering wheel grip detection, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.
Convenience features are also enhanced, with an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto-hold, Walk-Away Lock, and major controller wireless software updates (OTA), ensuring the vehicle remains current throughout its lifecycle.
For the first time in a Hyundai vehicle, the Avante introduces an Electronic Shift Lever (SBW) P-gear emergency braking function, limiting acceleration and activating hydraulic brakes when the P-gear button is held, ensuring safe deceleration and stopping even in unexpected situations.
Additionally, for the first time in the company’s lineup, 'Navigation Smart Cruise Control 2' is included, which automatically slows down the vehicle in specific areas—including not only highways and motorways but also general roads (such as safety zones, speed bumps, and intersections) while smart cruise control is active, before resuming the preset speed after passing through such segments.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist now incorporates additional functions, including intersection crossing, oncoming vehicles when overtaking, side-approaching vehicles, and evasive steering assist, enhancing preventive safety in a broader range of scenarios.
Avante comes loaded with advanced parking support, including 'Memory Reverse Assist' for improved convenience during reverse maneuvers in alleys and parking lots, Side Parking Distance Warning, the 'Surround View Monitor' offering transparent vehicle display, and Remote Smart Parking Assist for safer and more convenient parking.
Further convenience-enhancing features include a 12-speaker 'Audio by Bang & Olufsen' sound system, high-output 100W USB Type-C port, Digital Key 2, Built-in Cam 2 Plus, first-row dual-laminated soundproof glass, and a wide sunroof, all contributing to higher customer satisfaction.
Prices: Gasoline from KRW 23,980,000; Hybrid up to KRW 36,990,000
The Avante gasoline 2.0 model is priced at KRW 23,980,000 for the Modern trim, KRW 27,710,000 for Premium, and KRW 31,520,000 for Inspiration. The 1.6 hybrid model is priced at KRW 30,420,000 for Modern, KRW 33,610,000 for Premium, and KRW 36,990,000 for Inspiration. The listed prices for the hybrid models are prior to tax benefit application.
Hyun Yhojun, who oversees Hyundai's domestic business division, stated, "The new Avante sets a new standard for entry sedans through its outstanding, imposing design, best-in-class spaciousness, upgraded powertrain, wireless software updates, and Pleos Connect. We have significantly elevated product value and the overall customer experience, and we aim to deliver a continuously evolving mobility experience for customers even after purchase."
He added, "Hyundai is committed to providing the highest value to domestic customers as our top priority, and will continue to put the Korean market at the center—enhancing customer satisfaction based on excellent product value and competitive customer benefits."
