Webiome Launches Full-Scale Customized B2B Probiotics Ingredient Business
Webiome, a comprehensive health functional food subsidiary of the microbiome-based drug development specialist Gobio Lab, announced on August 5 that it will begin full-scale operations of its customized business-to-business (B2B) probiotics ingredient business based on patented strains.
Webiome operates a globally certified probiotics Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) factory in the National Food Cluster. This factory is registered with the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) and holds international certifications such as FSSC22000, sGRAS, and Halal. Since its completion in 2023, the facility has completed process optimization and stability verification for a total of more than 30 functional strains.
The core competitiveness of this new B2B business lies in its diverse lineup of functional probiotic ingredients. From single strains to mixed probiotic ingredients, client companies can review and select raw materials that best match market demand and product characteristics.
Webiome possesses a large portfolio of microbiome-derived strains developed from the research of Professor Gwang-Pyo Ko of Seoul National University (Chief Visionary Officer at Gobio Lab), all protected by domestic and international patents.
Webiome offers a variety of mixed probiotic ingredients, including a 4-strain mixed lactic acid bacteria, a 13-strain mixed lactic acid bacteria, a 7-strain kids blend based on infant- and young child-derived strains, and a 4-strain blend composed solely of strictly anaerobic Bifidobacterium. This diverse portfolio enables client companies to develop tailored probiotic products that fit their specific product concepts.
