Wall Street Recommends 'Buy' and 'Overweight' on SK hynix as ADR Rises 7.9%
"Memory Supply Shortages Expected Through 2028"
SK hynix Poised to Benefit Most from Memory Market Boom
Major Wall Street financial firms have begun coverage of SK hynix's American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), issuing 'buy' or 'overweight' ratings in succession. Analysts predict that the company will be the biggest beneficiary of a prolonged memory market boom, driven by expanded investment in artificial intelligence (AI) and its competitive edge within the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) segment.
According to foreign media reports on August 4 (local time), at least six financial institutions, including Bank of America (BofA), recently initiated company analysis on SK hynix ADRs and offered buy or overweight recommendations.
In its first report released the same day, BofA projected that SK hynix would post earnings comparable to those seen in a 'super cycle,' citing robust orders from U.S. tech companies, the company's leading position in the advanced memory market, and increased AI infrastructure investment. BofA argued that the current share price does not fully capture this growth potential, meaning SK hynix remains undervalued.
UBS also issued a buy rating on SK hynix ADRs on July 30 and set a target price of 204 dollars. Analyst Nicolas Gaudois of UBS suggested that memory supply shortages could persist through 2028, stating, "Current valuations do not fully reflect the structurally higher profitability of the memory business, its reinforced free cash flow (FCF) generation capability, or the company's enhanced potential for shareholder returns."
The highest target price was set by Rosenblatt Securities, which forecast the SK hynix ADR at 320 dollars—a level approximately 124% higher than the previous day's closing price of 142.72 dollars.
