Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin Special City, will officially visit Da Nang City in Vietnam to expand cooperation in advanced industries such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin Special City, will visit Da Nang City in Vietnam from the 4th to the 8th upon an official invitation following the friendship agreement between Yongin and Da Nang. View original imageAccording to Yongin City on August 4, Mayor Lee will visit Da Nang for five days from the 4th to the 8th at the official invitation of Da Nang City. He will be accompanied by Jang Jeongsun, Chair of the Yongin City Council; Shin Nayoun, Chair of the Council's Autonomy and Administration Committee; Kang Yeongwoong, City Council member; and other representatives from the city and city council.
The delegation, upon arrival in Vietnam on the 4th, will visit the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang to meet with Consul General Han Jeongil and Jo Jooyeon, Director of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Da Nang office.
On the 5th, Mayor Lee will meet with Nguyen Dinh Binh, Chairman of the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee, to discuss ways to expand civic autonomy and exchanges between the two cities. He will then visit FPT Group, Vietnam's largest information and communication technology (ICT) company. At FPT's high-tech and semiconductor research and development (R&D) center located in Da Nang’s second Software Park, he plans to observe and learn more about the local semiconductor industry ecosystem.
On the 6th, the delegation will visit the 'Yongin Public Digital Library' located in Quang Phu Ward, Da Nang City. This facility, measuring 1,686 square meters (approximately 510 pyeong), was established in the International Lotus Village Welfare Town as an official development assistance (ODA) project by Yongin City.

View original imageAfter assessing the library's operation, Mayor Lee will meet with Bui Ngoc An, Party Secretary of Quang Phu Ward, and Huynh Ngoc Ba, Chairman of the People's Committee, at the Quang Phu Ward Office. During the meeting, they will discuss the 'K-Ongi Village Project,' an initiative to dispatch Yongin youth volunteer groups to promote Korean culture and participate in local volunteer activities.
On the 7th, Mayor Lee will hold talks at Da Nang City Hall with Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the People’s Committee, to discuss partnership initiatives in advanced industries and cultural fields. He will then attend the ‘Meet Korea in Da Nang’ conference at the Furama Hotel and give a presentation titled ‘AI, the New Engine of Growth and Development.’
That afternoon, Mayor Lee will also attend the opening ceremony of the ‘5th Korea-Vietnam Festival’ held near East Sea Park in Da Nang. He will encourage the Yongin City promotional booth team and, after attending the ceremony with Chairman Nguyen, return to Korea on the 8th.

Yongin City has maintained friendly relations with Quang Nam Province, Vietnam since 2013. After Quang Nam Province was merged with Da Nang City in an administrative reorganization last July, Yongin signed a new friendship agreement with Da Nang City on January 14 of this year.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin Special City, has been officially invited by Da Nang City in Vietnam, with which Yongin has signed a sister city agreement, to visit Da Nang from the 4th to the 8th.
