[Invest&Law] Yulchon Recruits Former Director-General for North American Affairs Jogu Rae to Strengthen U.S. Investment Advisory Capabilities

On August 5, Yulchon LLC announced that it has recruited Jogu Rae, former Director-General for North American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Senior Advisor to strengthen its advisory capabilities related to U.S. investment.
After graduating from the Department of Political Science at Seoul National University, Senior Advisor Jogu Rae joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. He later served as First Secretary at the Embassy of Korea in Israel, First Secretary at the Embassy in Russia, Director of the North Korea Nuclear Affairs Division 2, Director of the North America Division 2, Counselor at the Embassy in the United States, Minister-Counselor at the Embassy in Pakistan, Policy Advisor to the Minister, and Director for North American Affairs, among other positions. He was appointed Director-General for North American Affairs in 2017 and served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tunisia in 2018. In 2023, he was Director-General for Planning and Coordination, and in 2024, Head of Diplomatic Strategy and Intelligence.
With the full-scale launch of U.S. investments expected to reach USD 200 billion under the recent Korea-U.S. trade agreement, Yulchon LLC is forming a “U.S. Investment Task Force (TF)” to respond to legal, regulatory, and policy issues that may arise in the process of corporate investment in the United States. Based on his experience in U.S.-related diplomacy and policy expertise, Senior Advisor Jogu Rae will support companies in developing investment strategies and managing risks.

Yulchon LLC stated that with Senior Advisor Jogu Rae’s addition, it aims to further strengthen its advisory function linking trends in U.S. diplomatic and trade policy with corporate investment strategies.
