KOSPI Opens Higher Then Turns Lower... Samsung Electronics and SK hynix Decline
KOSDAQ on the Rise
The KOSPI started higher in early trading on the 4th but reversed to decline. Both Samsung Electronics and SK hynix also turned downward.
As of 9:34 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI was trading at 6,205.32 on the Korea Exchange, down 0.83% from the previous session.
While foreign investors and retail investors net purchased stocks worth 257.9 billion won and 154.3 billion won, respectively, institutional investors sold off 430.6 billion won, driving the index lower.
Performance differed greatly by sector. The telecommunications sector rose by 4.3%, while construction (3.76%), electricity and gas (2.5%), non-metallic minerals (2.2%), and paper and wood (1.75%) also posted gains. In contrast, the insurance sector fell by 2.19%, with electrical and electronic equipment (-2.05%), manufacturing (-1.81%), and distribution (-1.62%) also recording declines.

View original imageAmong the top market capitalization stocks, NAVER surged 9.8%, while SK Telecom (9.5%), LIG Defense & Aerospace (3.7%), Doosan Enerbility (4%), Hyosung Heavy Industries (3.8%), and Korea Electric Power Corporation (2.3%) also rose. On the other hand, Hyundai Mobis fell by 5%, while Samsung Electro-Mechanics (-4.5%), Doosan (-4.5%), Samsung Life Insurance (-3.6%), SK Inc. (-3.8%), SK hynix (-3.5%), and Samsung Electronics (-3.3%) declined.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 764.39, up 3.67% from the previous session. Although foreign investors and retail investors recorded net sales of 88.3 billion won and 49.1 billion won, respectively, institutional investors net purchased 138.4 billion won.

Most of the leading KOSDAQ stocks rose. D&D Pharmatech climbed 14.6%, while ABL Bio (14%), Voronoi (13.7%), Olix (12.8%), LIG ChemBio (12.6%), and Woory Technology (9.5%) also advanced. In contrast, SPG fell by 2.8%, and Eugene Technology (-1.8%) and Rainbow Robotics (-1.7%) also declined.
